Best food to an Estonian is another Estonian

I decided to brush up my English and for that I will have some posts in English and some in Estonian.
This time I would really like to complain. I stumbled on a really "interesting" conference participant who seems to be a smart-ass. Why I'm talking about him is that he's also Estonian. Why smart-ass? Because he is really pushy, interrupting other peoples' presentations while "teaching" what the person should say and also not willing to accept that countries are different and so traditions are different. To explain more, then when we were visiting an orthodox church in Sarajevo and a local guy was speaking about the church which member he is, this "Estonian" interrupted by saying how things should be in orthodox church and that for example balcony is supposed to be for people from higher class. At the same time in this church in Sarajevo the balcony was a place where people could find shelter and fit during the war. Different social classes were divided by on which side from the altar the person is sitting. So my cute Estonian was really pressing his ideas.

But why he really-really pissed me off first time, was today during the lunch. We have two Estonian guys here besides me and they are good friends. I understand that as one of them is studying in Greece, then they have a lot of catching up to do. But as we are here on an international event and if you are not alone in the table, please be polite and speak in English! It is so annoying when people speak in between themselves in their own language. It's ok for short time, but not all the time. And another thing was that when he, the smart-ass asked me about my beliefs and when I told him that I consider myself as a Lutheran, although I am not baptized and do not belong to a church, he asked me that how can I call myself Lutheran then. Do I really have to be a member of a church to believe? Faith is every persons' personal thing and labeling or belonging to a group shouldn't be the issue either a person believes in something or not.

I think this is one big problem that Estonian people have. They think that being religious and believing in something automatically means belonging to a church or another specific group. But belief is something personal, something between you and God and that is only thing that matters. You do not have to show off to believe!

But well, this is just my humble thought. As I said, everyone can have their own beliefs, so you are welcome to have your own and share it to the world in peaceful, non-harmful way. Suppressing your own ideas is not the way!
